THE EUROPEAN LEADER IN SUSTAINABLE TEXTILE INNOVATIONS

Reinventing the end-of-life of textile products to design more responsible collections

Objective

The REWIND project is part of the virtuous circle of the circular economy and plans to deploy industrial facilities capable of collecting, sorting, dismantling and recycling post consumer textile articles. At the production of the demonstrators will follow the validation by DECATHLON user-client panels. The validation of these tests may lead to the progressive inclusion of recycled cotton fibres in all DECATHLON group industrial productions in the weaving and knitting sector. By reinventing the end-of-life of products, we are feeding the textile industry with a secondary raw material. Brands and industrialists will have the opportunity to use recycled materials and this will significantly reduce the volumes of virgin materials and the cost of products over time while optimizing the footprint environmental aspects of cotton fibre.

Expertises

Optimize the technical-economic efficiency and reduce the environmental impact of raw materials. Construction of a semi-industrial line for upgrading used textiles, a platform designed to treat short fibres but also mixtures such as polyester cotton: SORTING – DISMANTLING – FRAYING – CARDING – OPEN-END SPINNING – WEAVING / KNITTING

Partners

Project funded by ADEME – AAP; co-financed by MEL: Operation supported by future investments; Circular economy – Recycling and recycling of waste.
