Transport et CETI

Textiles have long been an integral part of the transport market grouping the automobile, railway, maritime and aeronautical sectors.

Today, they represent 26% of the market in value and 15% in volume. Its themes and constraints are varied with:

  • A traditional approach:  Seat coverings and car interior fitting with stain-resistant, anti-odour, UV resistant, fireproof and thermally controlled textiles, carpets, velvets, blinds, etc …
  • A technical approach:  Fibre insulators for heat insulation and soundproofing (motor insulation, vehicle cab insulation, etc.), safety applications with airbags, seatbelts, reinforcement of flexible parts (belts, brake cables, etc.),
  • New stakes for tomorrow’s vehicles and the reduction in the weight of structures by using high-performance composites with textile splices, fireproof materials, and the development of intumescent fibres, the use of bio-sourced materials using linen fibres, recyclable materials with the development of new more environmentally-friendly fibres, reduction of the carbon footprint, etc …

Besides the technical aspects, vehicles must constantly increase their attractiveness by improving passenger well-being. Polysensorality, the perceived quality and the design and customisation aspects are essential areas where textiles have their rightful place.
